For learners For organisations

Clear paths for learners. Real digital presence for the organisations that serve them.

Namela is a Free State non-profit with two jobs. We help learners in township and rural schools make informed career decisions, and we build professional websites for NGOs and ECD centres that cannot afford agency rates.

Namela means climb in Sesotho. It is a word of movement, aspiration and upward motion.

What we do

Two pillars, one purpose

Opportunity should not be determined by postcode. Both pillars exist to change that.

Pillar 1 · For learners

Career Navigation

Career guidance, digital career assessments, university and TVET application support, and NSFAS and bursary guidance for learners in township, rural and under-resourced schools.

  • Career Compass for Grades 8 to 12, delivered in schools
  • Post-School Pathways for matriculants and youth aged 18 to 35
  • Digital Career Access, the technology engine behind it all

Pillar 2 · For organisations

NGO Digital Assistance

We build professional websites and digital tools for NGOs, NPOs and ECD centres that cannot afford agency rates, giving small community organisations credibility, visibility and funder-readiness online.

  • Professional websites built for community organisations
  • Logos, branding, email and social media setup
  • A stronger case when you approach funders
How it works

The learner journey

One pathway, four decision points

Career navigation is not a once-off talk in Grade 12. It is a journey that starts with subject choice and ends with a young person earning.

The learner pathway A path in four stages: Grade 8 to 9 subject choice, Grade 12 matric, post-school study or training, then career. 1 Grade 8 to 9 Subject choice 2 Grade 12 Matric 3 Post-school University, TVET or training 4 Career Earning and growing

Namela walks alongside learners at each of these points, with assessments, guided interpretation, action plans and application support, so that no decision is made by guesswork or by default.

Year 1 pilot targets

What we are setting out to do

Namela is in its set-up phase. These are the targets we hold ourselves to in our first pilot year, stated as targets, not results.

0 learners reached with career navigation support
0 Free State schools partnered in the pilot
0 of learners reporting clearer career decisions
0 of partner schools in under-served settings

We publish how we measure these on our Impact page, and we will report against them honestly, including where we fall short.

NGO digital assistance

Your organisation does the work. We make sure the world can see it.

Hundreds of NGOs, NPOs and ECD centres do remarkable work with no website, no professional email and no way for a funder to verify they exist. Agency rates put a basic web presence out of reach.

Namela builds professional websites and digital tools for community organisations at a fraction of commercial cost. Credibility, visibility and funder-readiness, without the agency price tag.
